I am very happy to have been in New Orleans for the Jazz Festival. Share the music with different friends from all around the world. This was a great moment for my life, from the day I leave my family in Tampa to go to New Orleans. On my way from home to the airport there was a lot of happiness. I just carrying my talking drum in my hand, anywhere I went I just played my drum and made people happy. I even played for the security people at the Tampa airport!
When I finally arrived to New Orleans, I felt like I was in a dream. There was so much happiness in this city -
everyone was smiling and sharing. Everywhere I went people were playing music, inside and outside - the spirit of Africa was there, with this beautiful city and beautiful weather, and beautiful people. I felt like this is just one world with one love.
I was very happy to meet Ben Harper after his performance and a lot of different musicians. It was great to play with my old friend Cheick Diabate, we really had a good time, I am so happy.
Now I am back home with my wife and happy to see her and our boys. I realize today in my life, it is a new day and a new world. I have a chance to bring this world together for just one thing - music. In New Orleans, I see people volunteering, cleaning garbage, organizing, working together for music. Everyone is included, old, young, even children, when music brings people together it's like we are all the same - there is no age, just love, peace, patience, understanding, communication. Music makes the world better. Always.
